A Responsible Employee who becomes aware of sexual assault or misconduct is required to report it immediately to the Title IX Coordinator for their site. All District employees, with the exception of student workers and licensed counselors in the Golden West College and Orange Coast College Student Health Centers, are Responsible Employees. Interested parties may find a list of confidential and non-confidential reporting and support options on the Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Compliance's Crisis Resources Live Binder, and faculty may wish to link to this resource in course Canvas shells. Mariposa Women and Family Center offers assistance with abuse, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, loss of a loved one, anger management, difficulties with low self-esteem, communication problems, or other life challenges, Mariposa offers counseling and services in multiple languages: English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Farsi, Arabic, Chinese, and French. There is free child care at both of the centers; please make reservations when you make your appointment, so they can accommodate your child.

*In California, all medical professionals, with the exception of licensed counselors, are mandated by state law to notify law enforcement if a patient tells the provider that they have experienced sexual assault.
*Sexual assault evidence exams are free of charge and do not require police authorization. However, police presence is highly recommended.

To ensure your safety, you may choose to file a restraining order. If you are District employee who has experienced sexual misconduct or violence and are in need of a restraining order, please contact your College Human Resources office for assistance. When a friend, student, colleague, or family member discloses that they have been raped, sexually assaulted, or abused, there are strategies you can use to support them effectively. There are key phrases you can use and resources you can provide to demonstrate your meaningful, genuine, and lasting affirmation. RAINN's "How to Respond to a Survivor" statement is an excellent starting point.
Hearing about another person's experiences with rape, sexual assault, or abuse can also be traumatic for the listener. If you need support, please do not hesitate to contact the above on-campus or community resources.
