General Information
|
When you study abroad, you are immersed in another language, another culture, and another perspective on the world. You develop clearer insights into the inter-dependence of today's world and a better under-standing of how differences among nations, cultures, races, and languages influence our perceptions of world issues and events. Your experience abroad can turn out to be one of the most significant experiences of your life
When you arrive at your study center location, the travel contractor will conduct a very thorough orientation. It will include an introduction to the city, information about banking, housing, safety, school, local transportation, and all the other practical and logistical things you need to know to make life easier in a new and strange place.
One thing we have learned from returning students is that no matter how thorough the on-site orientation is, there are things they wish we had covered more thoroughly before they left the US. These pages are an attempt to put those things down on paper so you can refer to them as you prepare to leave and throughout the semester abroad. We hope that you will take it with you and add to it. Correct it. Revise it as necessary and send us your comments so that students following you will have the benefit of your experience. Our goal is for you to have the best cultural and educational experience you can, with as little surprise, disappointment, and/or inconvenience as possible.
