Spend a month in Paris, a city renowned for its wealth of historical, artistic
and cultural riches. Immerse yourself in a language and culture that span the
Middle Ages through the 20th century, in a city that draws students from around
the world. Paris is your classroom as you study the French language, and attend
on-site lectures at the many galleries, museums and cultural sites throughout
the city. The Summer in Paris program offers a unique opportunity to expand
your educational experience while earning transferable college credit through
the Coast Community College District.

Academic Program
You may enroll through Orange Coast College studying French at all levels. Lia
Raileanu, Orange Coast College French professor, will teach the beginning
French class. All other students will be enrolled at the Sorbonne. You can
expect to be in class approximately four hours per day, five days per week. All
classes transfer to the University of California and California State
University systems.

The Cultural Program
Cultural learning is an integral part of the Summer in Paris program. You will
attend on-site lectures at museums and historical sites within and outside of
Paris. In addition, you will take part in a cultural activity series that
includes two evening performances of concert and ballet. A day excursion
to Versailles is included in the program. Also included are an optional
three-day, two night excursion to Normandy and Brittany as well as a one-day
excursion to the Loire Valley and a one-day excursion to Chartres and Giverny.

Plus a $150 refundable security deposit

Housing
You may choose to live in double or single rooms in the Cité Universitaire, a
historic residential campus for students from around the world studying in
Paris. Housing is provided from the first day of the program.
Transportation
ACCENT will organize a round-trip group flight from Los Angeles. The cost of
this flight is not included in the program fee. Group flight participants will
be met at the airport in Paris and transferred to their housing. Students
returning to the U.S. on the group return date will receive transportation to
the Paris airport. Accent will provide detailed flight information at least
three months prior to departure. Group flight reservations must be made at
least 40 days prior to departure.

Enrollment Fees
Academic credit for this program is awarded by Orange Coast or Golden West
College. A $20 per unit enrollment fee must be paid to CCCD at the time
of registration. Nonresidents of California pay $156 per unit. This tuition is
state mandated and subject to change.
Insurance
All
program participants are required to purchase short-term outbound study abroad
medical insurance through an approved District insurance provider. Program
participants can find further information on the required study abroad medical
insurance at http://www.cccd.edu/studyabroad/about.aspx
. Program participants must purchase this study abroad medical insurance no
less than 60 days prior to program departure. Failure to purchase the required
study abroad medical insurance shall prevent student from participating in the
study abroad program.
Faculty
Lia Raileanu is Professor of French at Orange
Coast College. She is a professor, writer, workshop presenter and teacher
consultant, highly specialized in the methodology of teaching foreign
languages. A successful organizer and inspiring teacher, she has conducted
fourteen student groups in France, including CCCD Summers in Paris since 1992.
