Spend a month in Paris, a city renowned for its wealth of historical, artistic and cultural riches. Immerse yourself in a language and culture that span the Middle Ages through the 20th century, in a city that draws students from around the world. Paris is your classroom as you study the French language, and attend on-site lectures at the many galleries, museums and cultural sites throughout the city. The Summer in Paris program offers a unique opportunity to expand your educational experience while earning transferable college credit through the Coast Community College District.
You may enroll through Coastline Community College, Golden West College or Orange Coast College, studying French at all levels. Lia Raileanu, Golden West College French instructor, will teach the beginning French class. All other students will be enrolled at the Sorbonne. You can expect to be in class approximately four hours per day, five days per week. All classes transfer to the University of California and California State University systems.
Cultural learning is an integral part of the Summer in Paris program. You will attend on-site lectures at museums and historical sites within and outside of Paris. In addition, you will take part in a cultural activity series that includes two evening performances of opera, concert or ballet; lectures on local customs and contemporary issues, sports events, and film evenings. Day excursions to the Loire Valley, Chartres, Giverney, and Versailles or similar are included in the program. Also included is an optional three-day, two night excursion to Normandy and Brittany.
