COAST DISTRICT RE-ELECTED BOARD MEMBERS SWORN IN

       Coast Community College District board members Paul Berger, Jerry Patterson and Armando Ruiz were recently re-elected to the board of trustees. At the District’s December 13 Board Meeting, the three Board Members were sworn in by Trustee Walter Howald.

       Berger, serving his fourth term, resides in the City of Costa Mesa. Berger stated, "I am very gratified to receive the approval of the constituents of the District whom I serve."

Patterson, a resident of Fountain Valley, commented on his non-contested re-election, stating, "I am very proud of all our district's colleges, Coastline, Golden West, Orange Coast and KOCE Channel 50. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve another four year term on the Board of Trustees." Armando Ruiz, the longest serving board member and a resident of Huntington Beach, has represented Coast District since 1983. Ruiz commented on his 17th year, "It is my sincere pleasure to continue representing a district that is exceptional and considered a leader in academic achievements. I am also proud of our District's vocational achievements, student services, and fiscally sound policies that are primarily directed towards classroom instruction."

       Coast District Chancellor Dr. Bill Vega stated, "We are pleased that the re-elected Coast District board members will continue to represent us. Through the Board’s leadership and commitment to quality education, this District continues to enjoy a reputation as one of the leading community college districts in the United States."

       The Coast Community College District enrolls over 57,000 students each semester in more than 100 degree and certificate programs. The District is the fourth largest community college district in the nation in credit enrollment. The District includes Coastline Community College headquartered in Fountain Valley, Golden West College and KOCE-TV located in Huntington Beach, and Orange Coast College located in Costa Mesa.
