Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa provides childcare services in its new
$2.86 million, 13,000-square-foot Harry and Grace Steele Children's Center. Over 5,000 children and student-parents have taken advantage of the Children's Center since its founding in 1969. The center provides daycare service to children ranging from 6 months to 6 years of age and after-school and summer care for children ages 5-12.
OCC's Children's Center provides a supportive and nurturing environment that builds a sense of community among parents, children and staff. Each child's individuality is celebrated along with his or her diverse cultural, ethnic and socio-economic background.
In Huntington Beach, Golden West College's (GWC) Child Care Center provides care to children ages 2 to 5 years old. The GWC Child Care Center provides an atmosphere conducive to the social, physical, intellectual and emotional aspects of each child's development. Its philosophy is to challenge children to achieve their full potential in an environment that fosters learning experiences and to develop a child's self confidence and happiness through play and creative activities.
GWC also provides care to infants and toddlers ages 6 months to 2 years in their Infant/Toddler Center.
The GWC Child Care Center and Infant/Toddler Center help students enrolled at GWC by providing quality, affordable childcare. This service allows students to concentrate on pursuing their academic or vocational goals.
In order to qualify, parents must be enrolled in at least six academic units for the Fall and Spring term and three for the Summer term. To find out more about Coast Community College District's childcare services, call Lucy Groetsch at OCC, (714) 432-5569 or Sandy Lutz at GWC,
