Among her duties as student trustee, Kirkpatrick will meet with the district student council on a monthly basis to discuss student items of interest to bring before the board.  As student trustee, Kirkpatrick has most of the rights and privileges of a trustee, including the ability to make and second motions and engage in discussions.

Kirkpatrick commented on her new post, saying, “My personal commitment is to the students. I want to voice their concerns to the board and the public.” As student trustee, Kirkpatrick will represent all of the students in the Coast Community College District. When asked how she plans on representing the students, Kirkpatrick said, “I will bring in an approachable leadership style with strong communication and organizational abilities.”

The Coast Community College District serves over 52,000 students each semester and includes Coastline Community College in Fountain Valley, Golden West College and KOCE TV  in Huntington Beach, and Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.
