COAST DISTRICT STUDENTS DROP THEIR CHANGE FOR
ORANGEWOOD CHILDREN'S HOME
Students from Coast Community College District cleaned out the change in their pockets this Spring in an effort to raise funds for a local children's home. More than $800 in loose change was gathered in the district-wide fundraiser, and students will present the money to the Orangewood Children's Foundation on Wednesday, May 30 at 1:30 p.m.

During the month of April, the District Student Council held a "Drop Your Change" fundraising campaign for the Orangewood Children's Home. The council placed donation receptacles at various locations around the Coast Community College District and encouraged employees of the district to drop their spare change in the receptacles.

The District Student Council comprises three student representatives from each of the three colleges in the district - Coastline, Golden West, and Orange Coast. The council acts as an alliance uniting the three colleges and KOCE-TV, providing district-wide student leadership and service projects, and giving the public a better understanding of district issues.
The Orangewood Children's Home provides a home for children who are removed from their caretakers and taken into protective custody in Orange County. The Orangewood Children's Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization that partnered with the County of Orange to raise money and expand the Orangewood Children's Home. The foundation's vision is to eliminate child abuse and neglect in Orange County by promoting efforts and services that encourage strong, healthy families and supportive communities.
The Coast Community College District is the fourth largest community college district in the nation in credit enrollment, serving 55,000 students each semester. The district is comprised of Coastline Community College headquartered in Fountain Valley, Golden West College in Huntington Beach, Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, and KOCE-TV, the district's public broadcasting station.
