The
Committee on School District Organization (OCCSDO) unanimously approved the redistricting plan
following a Public Hearing on Thursday, March 14. District Trustee Areas have not been changed
since 1975.
"We are pleased with the decision of the committee," said Dr. Paul Berger, Vice President of the Coast Community College District Board of Trustees. "The new boundaries bring our District up to date with census data, and ensure that each person within our District will continue to have equal representation on the District Board into the future."
Trustees, who are elected District-wide, will now represent approximately 126,300 voters each. With each of the Areas equal in population, the potential pool of candidates for the Board of Trustees is equal.
A map of the new Trustee Areas is attached to this press release, and is available from the Coast Community College District. Please call Erin Cohn, District Public Affairs Director, at 714-438-4605 to request additional copies.
The Coast Community College District is the seventh largest community college district in the nation in credit enrollment, serving nearly 60,000 students each semester. The district is comprised of Coastline Community College headquartered in Fountain Valley, Golden West College in Huntington Beach, Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, and KOCE-TV, the district's public broadcasting station.
